Minimalism began in after WW2 times in the west. This art form was most popular in the 1960’s-1970’s. Donald Judd, John McCracken, Agnes Martin, Dan Flavin, Robert Morris, Anne Truitt, and Frank Stella were important artists with a lot of influence in this movement. This form of art was also known as ABC art. This was seen as the reaction of abstract expressionism. Minimalism is also used to describe a trend in design and architecture where the subject is put into only its necessary elements. The phrase “less is more” best describes this artistic movement.
